The Project

Technomorphosis is a dance and music performance inspired by the writings of philosophers Álvaro Navarro and Alicia Arévalo, who point our the consequences of an acceleration ⎻ since the pandemic ⎻ of a technological shift that is very fast leading to a complete installation of technologies onto the bodies and to complete automation of interactions among humans, monitored behaviours, sudden mutations and instrumented bodies.

The project is characterised by the use of an interactive device: the Light Wall System. LWS* is an interface where the performer produces sounds by moving in and out of light. LWS* is a wall of light which functions as an instrument: the performer is able to modulate sound and is able to stop it through movement. Changes in the soundscape are made by the movement of the performer.

The project takes the audience through different degrees of complexity, interaction levels, and languages. Some parts offer a high degree of abstraction of the material, while others revolve around tonal and harmonic axes as pop music contrasted with inharmonic and non-figurative colourations. It leads us to apparent states of permanence, which suddenly and unexpectedly create fields of surprise, where dance, the body, and subtle facial gestures play a fundamental role in the control of both audio and video material. The highlights of the project lie in the strong correlation between the construction of the material, the sonic and visual gesture, body movement, and emotion.

LWS*

LWS* is a wall of light which functions as an instrument: the performer is able to modulate sound and is able to stop it through movement. The system reacts in a different way when the dancer crosses the wall with the whole body or just with one hand for example.
